Mandarin’s community theatre group, Act II Players, recently hosted a cabaret fundraiser on May 3 to support and launch its upcoming summer musical, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” according to a recent release.

The afternoon cabaret featured local actors performing songs centered on love, friendship and spring while attendees enjoyed food and specialty beverages, a recent release stated. Performers included Chloe Dresback, Lisa Hunt, Ryan Lemmon, Billy Lister, Avery Maxham, Katie O’Neill, Marilyn Painter, Julia Rigon, Karl Rogers, Sherri Snow, Ethan Walls and Camille Zeigler, per a recent release.

Up next for the theatre group is the full production of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, which will run from July 16 to 19, according to a recent release. Directed by Ava and Juliet Fixel, with choreography by Juliet Fixel, the classic corporate satire is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International, a recent release explained.

The musical follows J. Pierrepont Finch, an ambitious window washer who uses a self-help book to climb the corporate ladder at the World Wide Wicket Company, noted a recent release. Along the way, Finch outmaneuvers his conniving rival, Bud Frump, while earning the support of secretary Rosemary Pilkington, the release added.

The cast features Cameron Haddock as Finch, Avery Maxham as Pilkington, Karl Rogers as J.B. Biggley, Ethan Walls as Frump and Julia Rigon as Hedy LaRue, according to a recent release.

The production will take place at the Mandarin United Methodist Church Theatre, located at 11270 San Jose Blvd., per a recent release. Five performances are scheduled, including 7:30 p.m. evening shows on July 16, 17 and 18, a 2 p.m. matinee on July 18 and a 3 p.m. matinee on July 19, the release detailed.
