Q. Are you offering complimentary services for veterans this November?

A. In honor of Veterans Day, we’re offering free services throughout November to veterans, active-duty military members, reservists and their dependents.

These services include passport photos, notary services and recording of military discharge papers (DD-214s). To qualify, simply present a military ID, military dependent ID, DD-214 or driver license with a veteran designation.

We’re also offering free wedding ceremonies and photos for eligible military couples and their dependents with a valid marriage license.

Q. Why is it important for veterans to record their DD-214?

A. Your DD-214 is an important document that verifies your military service. Recording your DD-214 helps preserve your military service as part of St. Johns County’s permanent historical record, ensuring future generations can research, recognize and honor the men and women who served our country. These records remain confidential for 62 years after separation from military service.

Veterans who record their DD-214 will also receive a free Salute to Service ID card, which provides discounts at participating restaurants, attractions and businesses throughout St. Johns County.

Q. Where can veterans take advantage of these free services?

A. Veterans and their families can visit the Public Service Center at 4040 Lewis Speedway in St. Augustine, Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Services are also available by appointment at our Julington Creek Annex, 725 Flora Branch Blvd. in St. Johns, and Ponte Vedra Beach Annex, 151 Sawgrass Corners Dr. in Ponte Vedra Beach. Wedding photos are available only at the Public Service Center.

Appointments can be scheduled at stjohnsclerk.com/recording.

Q. How is your office helping veterans get back on the road this November?

A. Through our Mission: Back on the Road initiative, we’re helping veterans with suspended driver licenses due to unpaid court fees take steps toward getting their driving privileges back.

Throughout November, we’re waiving collection fees to help resolve outstanding balances and get you back on the road. Veterans can visit us at the courthouse or call (904) 819-3600 to learn more.

Q. What is the best way for residents to contact your office?

A. If residents have questions about any of the services we provide, our Customer Care Call Center is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (904) 819-3600 and by email at clerk@stjohnsclerk.com.
