The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded an $18,509 grant to the University of North Florida Police Department to purchase 40 new sling packs, three duffle bags and various trauma response supplies, according to a recent release. The lifesaving equipment will help first responders better serve the university by improving emergency response capabilities when seconds matter most.

On Tuesday, May 5, the University of North Florida Police Department celebrated the grant with a check presentation and a full-scale active assailant, assistance and reunification exercise on campus, the release said. The planned, controlled and highly coordinated exercise was made possible by the lifesaving gear and medical supplies donated by the foundation.
