Fireworks, live music and family activities will take center stage July 4 as Tallahassee joins communities nationwide in celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The City of Tallahassee’s annual Celebrate America event will return to Tom Brown Park from 6 to 10 p.m., offering residents an opportunity to gather for one of the Capital City’s largest Independence Day traditions.

The free event will feature live entertainment, food vendors, children’s activities and a performance by the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display scheduled to begin at approximately 9:50 p.m.

This year’s celebration carries added significance as the nation marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Across the country, communities are recognizing the milestone through special events, historical programs and educational activities reflecting on the nation’s past while looking toward its future.

In Tallahassee, Celebrate America serves as the community’s signature Independence Day gathering, drawing thousands of residents each year to Tom Brown Park for an evening of patriotic entertainment and family fun.

Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early to enjoy activities throughout the park before the orchestra performance and fireworks finale.

The local observance is part of the broader America250 initiative, a nationwide effort commemorating the semiquincentennial of the United States. Florida is participating through America250FL, a statewide program highlighting the people, places and events that have shaped the state’s role in American history.

For many local families, the annual celebration has become a Fourth of July tradition, offering an opportunity to gather with neighbors and friends while honoring the nation’s founding.

Celebrate America is free and open to the public. Tom Brown Park is located at 443-557 Easterwood Drive in Tallahassee.
