The “Tom & Julie Wood Community Pantry” will be the first senior-focused food pantry of its kind in the county, addressing food insecurity while prioritizing the nutritional needs of older adults, the release said. The pantry will provide a welcoming and supportive environment where seniors will be able to access healthy, age-appropriate groceries and essential pantry items at no cost.

The pantry will offer a wide variety of nutritious food options tailored to seniors’ health and dietary requirements and will be staffed by trained volunteers experienced in assisting older adults, according to the release. In addition to serving individuals in person, the pantry will include a delivery system that will work alongside Meals on Wheels to reach homebound seniors.

The opening of the “Tom & Julie Wood Community Pantry” will reflect NCCOA’s continued commitment to promoting independence, dignity and well-being among older adults in the community, the release said. The pantry will be made possible through the generosity of Tom and Julie Wood and the collaborative efforts of numerous community partners.
