The Girls on the Run (GOTR) teams at Julington Creek Elementary School completed their fall season on Dec. 6 by participating in the GOTR Celebration 5K at the University of North Florida.
During the season, the teams organized a Community Impact Project with a goal of collecting 1,000 new pairs of socks for HUGS St. Johns, a charity organization that provides items for St. Johns County students in need.
Through the generosity of Julington Creek Elementary families and the hard work of the team members, the girls collected 1,721 pairs of socks, almost doubling their original goal.
