Southside Newcomers Club seeks members.<\/b> The Southside Newcomers Club welcomes members from the Jacksonville area. Prospective members can be new to the area or have experienced a lifestyle change. Activities include game days, Bunco, Mah Jongg, bridge and Canasta. Groups participate in beading, book clubs, movie outings, lunches, line dancing and dinner events. Upcoming day trips include a trip to the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens on March 17 and an overnight trip to Savannah on April 27 and 28. Lifetree Cafe hosts film festival.<\/b> The Mandarin Senior Center will host the International Lifetree Film Festival on Friday, March 4. Creative short films from around the globe will be showcased with the overarching theme of people who are \u201cdoing life\u201d or \u201cdoing good.\u201d Short films include <\/span>Guang, Spaghetti for Two, Meet Joel\u2014My Last Days, Dancing Outside the Box, Unburden <\/span><\/i>and <\/span>Titanic Love.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the films beginning at 7 p.m. Hors d\u2019oeuvres and beverages will be served at intermission and desserts and coffee will be served at the event social afterwards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Project SOS to hold gala.<\/b> Project SOS will hold their annual fundraiser for youth, the Grand Anchor Gala, on March 5 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach. The cruise-themed dinner will feature comedian Jan McInnis. Individual tickets are available for purchase for $125 and all proceeds benefit Project SOS, Inc. a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to strengthening families by empowering parents and educating youth to make healthy life choices.
