Britton is retired from the Duval County Extension Service and called on her 38 years of experience in nutrition education to encourage members to stay active in retirement and to include generous amounts of fresh ingredients in their healthy diets.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Britton whipped up a batch of fresh pesto by blending basil, parsley, dill, garlic and green onions with pine nuts, olive oil and parmesan cheese. She explained that pesto can be used on baked potatoes and other vegetables, in pasta or soup, as a spread for bread and in appetizers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Britton prepared chicken linguine with pesto as members watched.
