David Hueber grew up in Indiana surrounded by his large family. Growing up with five sisters and a brother, each sibling had their own passion. Hueber\u2019s love of golf was instilled by his father at a very young age. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur passions were always an extension of our parents. Mom always encouraged us to do whatever we wanted to do, whether it made sense or not,\u201d Hueber said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Determined to play golf year round at a university in the south, Hueber relocated to Florida and attended Florida State University, where he earned a Masters in Business Administration. His successful career working in the golf world doing research development, marketing with the PGA TOUR, serving as CEO for the National Golf Foundation and president of the Ben Hogan Company, leave him astounded at the opportunities that he\u2019s been given. <\/span><\/p>\n

At age 57, Hueber re-entered college at Clemson University and earned his PhD in 2012. He also taught, researched and developed his talent of writing about his experiences with the Ben Hogan Company while studying at Clemson. He and his wife, Cindy, have been married for 40 years and enjoy living in Ponte Vedra. Hueber\u2019s passion for golf continues through his writing and consulting. <\/span><\/p>\n

  1. What do you enjoy most about living in Ponte Vedra?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    There\u2019s so much we enjoy. We\u2019ve lived in California and in Texas, but Ponte Vedra is just the place we fell in love with. It\u2019s a great place to live. The ocean, the weather and the sense of community. <\/span><\/p>\n

    1. What inspired you to write your book?<\/b>
      \n<\/span>
      \n<\/span>The book is titled \u201c<\/span>In The Rough: The Business Game of Golf<\/span><\/i>\u201d and I started writing it because I felt that I had a story to tell. It was such an honor working for the Ben Hogan Company. He\u2019s an extraordinary personality and I thought that readers may find my experiences interesting. I am working on a follow up book, \u201c<\/span>Coffee with Ben Hogan,\u201d<\/span><\/i> and I am hoping for another book later on. I would like to share my story the best I can.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?<\/b>
        \n<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        I\u2019d say when I went to Clemson at age 57 to earn my PhD. It was one of the most challenging things I\u2019ve ever done. It was such an interesting, fascinating and invigorating environment. I learned a lot about myself during that time. <\/span><\/p>\n

        1. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          I\u2019m excited to resume playing golf after my hip completes healing. I still have many academic interests. We enjoy socializing with friends and walking on the beach. If you enjoy your work you never work a day in your life and I have a great deal of personal satisfaction knowing how fortunate I\u2019ve been and continue to be. There\u2019s not a better place for us to live and I just enjoy every day. <\/span><\/p>\n

          1. If you could play a round of golf with anyone, who would be in your foursome and where would you play?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Definitely my dad, Ben Hogan, and former [PGA TOUR] Commissioner Deane Beman. Deane and I worked closely together and he has always been there for me. I worked extensively at Pebble Beach during my career and I love that course. I\u2019d say Pebble Beach or TPC Sawgrass. <\/span><\/p>\n
