Join Faithful Servant Missions for the fourth annual Run with a Mission charity run on Saturday, March 25 in Nocatee. Runners, walkers, strollers and pets are all welcome to join in on a one mile fun run, a 5k or a 10k event through the community streets and the paved Nocatee Greenway Trails, starting and finishing in the open field behind the Publix shopping center. Entertainment, bounce houses, music, silent auction and free food will be available for the enjoyment of everyone. Participants registered two weeks prior to the run will receive custom t-shirts and a goody bag.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 5k, 10k, and one mile fun run all start and finish together and along the same course. The one mile fun run route will turn back at the half mile point, while the 5k and 10k continue along the route. The 5k route will turn around at the 2500 meters and return to the finish, while the 10k will continue. Both the 5k and 10k courses are certified with United States Track and Field (USTAF), allowing them to serve as qualifier races for other races with time entry\/seeding requirements, including the Gate River Run. <\/span><\/p>\n

Faithful Servant Missions (FSM) is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization that seeks to serve Costa Rica and Panama. The mission identified three major areas of intervention to break the cycle of poverty within these Central American countries: physical, educational and spiritual. The board of directors has purchased land and completed construction of a multipurpose church building, parsonage, recreational facilities and an education building. Approximately 50 families are currently fed every month through the FSM family assistance program. These families receive staples such as beans, rice, salt and other items that are delivered to remote areas. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have great sponsors for the charity run and I can truly say that every dollar made from registration, or anything else, will all go straight to those families in Costa Rica and Panama,\u201d said FSM staff member and missionary, Ashley Davis. <\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, Run with a Mission was a huge success. With the help of so many within the community, this year will build on last year\u2019s achievement and continue to change the lives of those involved with FSM. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Faithful Servant Missions organization hosts a variety of teams from churches and organizations all across the nation every year. Mission teams that come through raise their own funds to carry out their own purpose for their specific trip,\u201d Davis said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Most often, the mission trips are for serving in the areas of Vacation Bible School, construction and feeding programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

All of the money raised by the annual charity run goes on to fund the current programs in place at the mission sites in Panama and Costa Rica. The two main programs are the education program in Costa Rica and the feeding program of Panama. <\/span><\/p>\n
