Heather Moorer is the floral expert at Winn Dixie on Baymeadows Road. She lives in a neighborhood off the Southside Boulevard service road with her four children who are between the ages of 18 and three months. She has been at this store since it opened and has worked with the company for more than 16 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

People frequently mingle around and chat with her at the colorful and beautiful display. Moorer greets her customers with a radiant smile and a friendly \u201cWhat\u2019s going on?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. What do you enjoy most about your customer service?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I love to make connections and build relationships with my customers. I try to add a personal touch while sharing information with people when they ask questions about the plants and flowers. Customers mainly want to find out if the flowers are fresh and what to do to keep them fresh longer. <\/span><\/p>\n

    1. What brought you into flowers and plants?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      I found I had a talent for the craft with design and am a self-taught floral expert. I thrive on learning the craft with flowers and plants. My learning is from as many experiences as I can get within the department and other work opportunities or trainings. I have participated in experiences with leading designers in the field. My best designs showcase the use of color and flowers in imaginative ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. What are your best tips with flowers?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        I always tell my customers to enjoy it \u2026 try to make your own arrangements and have fun. Don\u2019t take it so seriously and keep it simple. My best tip to keep flowers fresh is to retrim the stems, clean the water often and use cool water and a little ice when the flowers bloom. I am particular about the condition of the flowers and plants.<\/span><\/p>\n

        1. What is next for you with the business?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          I would like to expand into offering and promoting more big events and specialize in these. I would like to be known for special events such as weddings, funerals, retirements and those big events in people’s lives. <\/span><\/p>\n

          We are planning to offer classes and provide people in the community with an opportunity to learn more for themselves. I will offer workshops during the month of September on Sundays from 12 p.m. \u2013 1 p.m. in the Winn Dixie Store #7. More information and contacts are on the store website. I want to share the basics with everybody and wants people to fall in love with it.<\/span><\/p>\n

          1. What color flowers do men seem to like? Do they shop for flowers for themselves?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            They like red, purples, blue and some yellow flowers. They most often say it is \u201cfor the office\u201d and not too often for themselves. <\/span><\/p>\n
