Native New Yorker Jeffrey Durant moved to Jacksonville about six months ago for a job with Family Heritage \u2013 and, of course, the Florida weather. He felt that Family Heritage was a good opportunity for him to truly help people, which is what he loves about his position.<\/span><\/p>\n

Durant loves the ocean and the St. Johns River. He also appreciates the difference in how Jacksonville is built in comparison to New York: As he says, the city is more spread out, rather than spread up. In his free time, he enjoys visiting Jacksonville beaches, watching sports and, more recently, playing corn hole.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. What do you love most about the city and the Southside specifically?<\/span>
    \n<\/span>I love how friendly everyone is. The South is much different than New York in that regard. As for the Southside, I love how it is small enough where I really feel like I can get to know people on an individual level \u2013 and its proximity to the beach and The Landing.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. How are you involved with the community?<\/span>
    \n<\/span>I officiate youth basketball tournaments and adult recreational leagues. Hopefully this fall and winter, I will be able to officiate high school and collegiate basketball.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. What do you love most about your job?<\/span>
    \n<\/span>I view every day at my job as a new challenge and new opportunity. Mistakes of the day before can easily be moved on from.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. What\u2019s one surprising aspect of your job most people don\u2019t know about?<\/span>
    \n<\/span>The most surprising aspect of my job is how many people are unaware of my company and how it works. <\/span>I wanted to be in a profession where I felt like I was truly helping people and that’s what we do, as we provide financial protection and peace of mind for families when the unexpected occurs.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?<\/span>
    \n<\/span>I could go with an easy answer of pizza or hamburgers, but a fun question deserves a fun answer. So I would say chicken parmesan. It\u2019s just always been one of my favorites.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
