{"id":1398,"date":"2016-04-25T11:27:05","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T15:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/floridanewsline.com\/Clone2\/?p=1398"},"modified":"2016-04-25T11:27:05","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T15:27:05","slug":"a1a-rumble-stripe-installation-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/floridanewsline.com\/Clone2\/ponte-vedra\/a1a-rumble-stripe-installation-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"A1A rumble stripe installation underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By NewsLine Staff<\/em><br \/>\n<em><a href=\"mailto:mail@floridanewsline.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mail@floridanewsline.com<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A rumble striping project along A1A from Vilano Beach to Ponte Vedra Beach began Sunday, April 10 and is on schedule to be complete by May 6.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Construction is ongoing and moving lane closures are scheduled Sundays through Thursdays, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., from north of Carcaba Road in Vilano Beach to south of Mickler Road in Ponte Vedra Beach. Law enforcement is on site and drivers are urged to use caution when approaching the work areas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 8\u201d rumbles have been ground into the existing 6\u201d shoulder lines and 16\u201d rumbles will be ground into the existing center lines along 15 miles of A1A from Carcaba Road in Vilano Beach to south of Mickler Road in Ponte Vedra Beach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As part of the final stages of the project, crews will be installing a thermoplastic stripe within the rumbles that will smooth the transition from the rumble to the asphalt. Debris caused by the asphalt milling is being cleaned up nightly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rumble striping is a safety improvement feature utilized to reduce the frequency of crashes involving vehicles leaving their lane. The grooves cause a vibration and sound when drivers drift from their lane, lessening the likelihood of vehicles running off the outside shoulder as well as vehicles crossing the center line.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is the Florida Department of Transportation\u2019s first rumble striping project in the northeast Florida area to place the rumble line on an existing road.
